Cardinal Capital Management, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded with Top Guns status by Informa Investment Solutions’ PSN manager database for Cardinal Capital’s Balanced composite. PSN Top Guns performance rankings are tabulated for thousands of products, across 171 peer groups, subdivided by increasingly rigorous screens, and reported in ascending classes from 1 to 6 stars.
As of September 30, 2016, Cardinal Capital’s Balanced composite was ranked in the top one percentile for the one year and three year periods ending September 30, 2016 and in the top 10 percentile for the seven year period.
Cardinal Capital’s Balanced composite, a combination of 70% large cap US equities, 25% high-quality bonds of laddered maturities and 5% cash, was recognized with a 4 Star designation, which represents top ten returns for the 3-year period ending September 30, 2016. This comes on the back of PSN Top Guns awards for Cardinal Capital’s Balanced composite for periods ending June 30, 2016, March 31, 2016, December 31, 2015, and September 30, 2015. To put the top ten results in perspective, PSN’s Balanced Universe is made up of more than 300 separately managed account products included in their worldwide database.
PSN’s 4-Star Category must have an R-Squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the style benchmark for the recent five-year period. Moreover, products must have returns greater than the style benchmark for the \latest three-year rolling periods. The top ten returns for the latest three-year period then become the TOP GUNS.
“We are very happy to again have our products’ performances recognized by Informa. Our Balanced composite has a 24 plus year track record and has exceeded the benchmark return since inception with significantly reduced volatility, characteristics common to all four of our asset class products,” said Cardinal Capital’s President and Chief Investment Officer, Glenn Andrews, CFA.
Utilizing a proprietary blend of Informa Investment Solutions’ top priority performance screens, PSN Top Guns ranks products in six proprietary star categories in over 50 universes. This is a highly anticipated quarterly ranking and is widely used by institutional asset managers and investors.
Top Guns receive a star rating in the range from one to six. The stars indicate the continued performance over a length of time. Cardinal Capital Management, Inc. was named a Top Gun with star ratings of 4, 3, 2 and 1 as well as the Bull & Bear Masters designations as recently as June 30, 2016.
“We congratulate Cardinal Capital Management, Inc. on their distinction as a PSN Top Gun. This highly anticipated quarterly ranking recognizes elite performers on the leading investment manager database in North America and is widely used by institutional asset managers and investors across our platform,” said Leno Toich, Managing Director of Informa Investment Solutions. “PSN Top Guns ranks products in six proprietary star categories in over 50 universes.”
